Dare2Imagine Week 2 Recap!

Events & Campaigns
June 17, 2020

This week’s #Dare2Imagine theme focused on the colours of the Pride flag. Probably the most well-known, though not the only, symbol of 2SLGBTQ communities, each colour on the flag represents a different element. We put our heads together and worked on posts that not only represented the spirit of our community, but also connected them with resources to access during this difficult time. As the ongoing work of justice and equality marches on, we continue to focus on supporting BIPOC and being true to our roots – Pride has, and always will be, a protest first.

She who shall not be named is transphobic, now what? In the #prideflag the color #yellow represents light! So, on #day10 of our #dare2imagine #30dayphotochallenge we want to turn off the lights by casting #NOX on J.K. Rowling and instead share with you alternative #queerauthors and books with #queercharacters in the #youngadult and #fantasygenre. Say #LUMOS to Carry On by @rainbowrowell | In Other Lands by @sarahreesbrennan | Of Fire and Stars by @brashbook | Not Your Sidekick by @@cblee_cblee | Girls of Paper and Fire by @girlinthelens | These Witches Don’t Burn by @isa_sterling | Ace of Hearts by @myriad.works | What Makes You Beautiful by @medusianallure What are your favourite books in these genres? Tag us in your photo and don’t forget to use #Dare2Imagine!

On #day11 of our #dare2imagine #30dayphotochallenge, we are focusing in on green. In the #prideflag, green represents #nature, and just like in nature, #2SLGBTQ+ youth need to feel a sense of belonging, #community, and have spaces of their own to #surviveandthrive. In last year’s needs assessment, over 55% of youth surveyed said that they had never accessed a queer-focused space! Today’s focus is on organizations that create spaces for #queeryouth. @soytoronto | @the519 | @saeftyottawa | @parn4counties | #SAGEThunderBay What do you do to create your #safespace? #queerresources #2slgbtqresources #spacesforqueeryouth #safespaces #youthspaces #queerhealth #2slgbtqhealth #ontario #instagood #mentalhealthawareness #selfcare #pride2020 #selflove #wellbeing #lgbtq #loveislove #trans #lgbtpride #lgbtqia
