It’s #Day16 of our #Dare2Imagine #30dayphotochallenge! This week’s theme is #celebration and today we want to #celebrate #JOY! We understand that JOY can feel hard when everything in the #world feels like it’s falling apart, so we want to encourage you to #connect with your #friends and #chosenfamily or talk to us! @LGBTYouthline is always here to talk about all the #feels related to questioning #gender/#sexuality, #relationships with #friends/#partners/#family, feeling socially isolated or just wanting to chat about what’s on your mind! #YouthLine offers #confidential and non-judgemental peer support through our telephone, text and chat services. Illustration: A person sits holding a phone. Behind them is a phone with two texts. First reads “Hey. I want to chat to LGBT Youthline about how I can celebrate JOY when everything in the world feels like it’s falling apart.” Second reads “We are so proud of you for reaching out. Our Anonymous Peer Support Line for 2SLGBTQ+ youth in Ontario is available Sunday to Friday from 4 PM to 9:30 PM. Let’s chat online at www.youthline.ca or text 647-694-4275!”

#TGIF – We made it to the third friday of our #dare2imagine #30dayphotochallenge: #Day19! In staying with this week’s theme, today we want to #celebrate our #volunteers who have continued to support other #2SLGBTQ+ #youth across #Ontario; our #supporters and #donors who make it possible to continue to be here. We are still fundraising and have just passed the 40% mark of our goal – you can support our work at youthline.ca/donate. Comment below the people in your life that you love and appreciate! First image – Illustration: A person sitting in a wheelchair with a headset on, a black woman sitting and on the phone, a black boy laying on thier back and on the phone and a woman in a hijab, standing, holding a cane, and also on the phone, are dispersed around the image. The b/g is pink littered with various white shapes. A pink heart sits in the top right corner. Infront of it is the dare2imagine logo with white text underneath that reads “Loving our Volunteers”. Second image – Illustration: Two women, one black, are highfiving in an office space. The b/g is grey littered with various light blue shapes. In the top right corner sits the YL BFF logo. On #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we celebrate Two-spirit people and all they bring to their cultures and the fabric of 2SLGBTQ community on Turtle Island and beyond! We recognize and remember the many deaths of Indigenous people as a cause of state-sanctioned violence. We encourage 2SLGBTQ Indigenous youth to reach out to us if you need support or even just want to chat. More than half of the Indigenous youth in our 2020 needs assessment told us that they don’t feel a sense of community, needing more peer spaces to connect with other Indigenous 2SLGBTQ youth, and spaces that respect and celebrate their cultural identities. Two-Spirit youth deserve to be recognized and celebrated for who they are. See the full needs assessment and our YouthOrganize resource on learning more about Indigenous communities at youthline.ca/publications. #Dare2Imagine #Day21

Today is #indigenouspeoplesday and we are celebrating two-spirit people and all that they bring to their cultures and communities both on Turtle Island and beyond! We recognize and remember the many deaths of indigenous people that have been caused by state sanctioned violence. More than half of the Indigenous youth in our 2019-2020 needs assessment told us that they needed more peer spaces to connect with other indigenous 2SLGBTQ youth, as well as spaces that celebrate their cultural identities. More than half of these indigenous youth who responded told us they don’t feel a sense of community. Two-Spirit youth deserve to be recognized and celebrated for who they are. #Dare2Imagine #day21 #2SLGBTQ #youth

In our last week, we’re focusing on 2SLGBTQ activism and history. Pride comes with a big history, and we need to know where we come from to know where we are going. Stay tuned this week and don’t forget to upload your images to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #Dare2Imagine and tag @lgbtyouthline! We’ll be pulling together some of our favourite images from this month in next week’s recap!

While our Pride photo challenge has been the main focus of this month, we’re also trying to hit our campaign goal of $50,000! We’re just about at 50% of our goal – can you help us get there? Donate here

We hope you’re staying safe and having a happy Pride!

XO, LGBT YouthLine
