In this episode of Nourishing Our Roots, Grace and Ashiana converse with their guest Jam Bridgett (@yikesjamaica) about various artistic & creative practices that enable you to self-affirm and self-love. Jam is a Black queer visual artist and writer with publications in 1919 Magazine, Subvrt Mag, ENBY Magazine and Rose Quartz Magazine.
Listen in as they talk about how they use creative practices to connect with themselves and their communities and discuss how practicing wellness itself is a creative practice. They share about their chosen family, trans journey and freedom-dreams. As a bonus, Jam gives us a transcendental reading of an excerpt from their poem “The Fish, The Dream, and the Ocean” from the QTBIPOC Dream Anthology titled “Behind Shut Eyes”!
In the final segment Jam talks us through some inner child work and takes everyone through the practice of sketching our inner child! You can see the art created during this podcast by everyone involved on our lnstagram @lgbtyouthline – make sure to post yours as well! 🙂
