SIC Queer Initiatives, Queen’s University

Region Served: Frontenac | Language: English

SIC’s Queer Initiatives is a student-led, education-focused program under the Alma Mater Society (AMS) at Queen’s University, dedicated to supporting the 2SLGBTQA+ community. We strive to foster inclusion, education, and advocacy on campus and beyond through various activities and events. Our work includes hosting weekly discussions on relevant topics and issues affecting the 2SLGBTQA+ community, providing a platform for dialogue and shared learning. We also organize signature events such as Queer Prom, an annual celebration of love, identity, and community. Additionally, we produce a queer-focused podcast to amplify diverse voices and perspectives while organizing social and political events that inspire connection and advocacy. Outreach is a key part of our work, and we run educational campaigns to raise awareness and promote understanding. Our physical space, located in the LaSalle Building at 146 Stuart Street, offers an inclusive environment where individuals can gather, access resources, and connect with others. We host discussions and events throughout the academic year that are open to all students. Follow us on Instagram for updates, event details, and opportunities to get involved.
