Welcome Philip Wong as Interim Executive Director!

Organizational Updates
August 5, 2022

We are thrilled to welcome back Philip Wong (he/him) to LGBT YouthLine as the Interim Executive Director, effective August 4, 2022.

Philip is a non-profit professional with more than 20 years of experience advocating for and with marginalized communities. Philip has firsthand knowledge of the organization’s value as a critical resource for 2SLGBTQ+ youth. He has served in a number of roles at YouthLine in the past, including as a phoneline and fundraising volunteer, and invaluable experience as our Executive Director from 2002-2007. Philip has also held leadership roles with Toronto’s Community One Foundation, Seattle’s Pride Foundation, the Inside Out Film Festival, the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network, Rainbow Railroad, and co-founded the LGBT+ Giving Network.

Born to immigrant parents in Toronto, Philip has roots in China and the Bahamas. After two years of Environmental Studies at York University he completed his academic career with a Bachelor of Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University. He has volunteered his time with the Canadian Cancer Society, Supporting Our Youth and the Toronto Humane Society.

Philip’s extensive non-profit management experience and his commitment to YouthLine – as well as his warm and friendly personality – made it clear he was a great fit for our organization as we continue our work to serve 2SLGBTQ+ youth across Ontario.

Philip will serve a one-year term following the announcement of Berkha Gupta’s one-year leave of absence.

Please join the Board and staff in welcoming Philip back to YouthLine!
